Agenda and Sponsors Announced for Open Source Think Tank Paris 2011
SAP, Microsoft Early Supporters of Invitation-Only Event
Palo Alto, CA , August 16, 2011 – The Olliance Group and DLA Piper today announced that SAP and Microsoft have signed on as sponsors of the 6th annual Open Source Think Tank, joining Qualcomm, SugarCRM and Nexenta in support of the exclusive semiannual conference. The Open Source Think Tank is held each fall in Paris, France and each spring in Napa, California.
The fall Open Source Think Tank will be held September 20-21, 2011 at The Concorde Opera Paris Hotel. The event theme, “Open Source as a Catalyst for Innovation, Organizational and Cultural Change,” is supported by agenda sessions including “Defining Open,” “Open Source, Open Systems and Open Standards: What Does it Mean Today?” and “Open Source Ethos as an Agent of Change in Closed Source Companies.” In addition, Erynn Petersen, Vice President of Developer and Open Source Evangelism at AOL, will present a follow-on to the spring 2011 Think Tank case study.
Co-hosted by Olliance Group and DLA Piper, the Open Source Think Tank is an invitation-only conference for CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, legal experts, investors and senior executives whose organizations are involved in the commercial application of open source and cloud computing technologies.
A working conference comprised of group sessions, brainstorming and real-world case studies, the Open Source Think Tank’s unique interactive format allows attendees from the open source and cloud ecosystems to openly share concerns, issues and experiences while collaboratively developing solutions.
“SAP is pleased to be a sponsor of the Open Source Think Tank Paris 2011,” said Claus von Riegen, Program Director Technology Strategy, SAP AG. “As a participant and sponsor, we are able to engage with other executive thinkers to define value-driven approaches to using open source in the enterprise. Within SAP, the discussion has moved from ‘why open source’ to ‘why not open source,’ and this change is partly due to interactions we have had at Think Tank events.”
“We value the opportunity to participate in The Open Source Think Tank and collaborate with many of the most influential members of the open source community,” said Sandy Gupta, General Manager, Open Solutions Group, Microsoft. “This engagement helps to inform the work we do with partners around interoperability and cloud computing for the benefit of our customers.”
“The frank and engaging participation of industry leaders and executives in Open Source Think Tank Paris makes this event a focal point of FOSS thought leadership,” said Andrew Aitken, GM Olliance Group, a Black Duck company. “The participatory atmosphere of Think Tank encourages debate and creates an environment where collaboration among participants from many different industries is the norm, not the exception.”
