Summary of Code Ingredients
The Black Duck® Code Label provides summary information, similar to an ingredient label on food packaging, regarding what's in your code. Using the output from the code scanning done by Black Duck® Protex™, the Code Label indicates the existence of open source code, how much there is and what licensing data exists for each component. The Code Label allows organizations to reduce business risks by better managing code reuse and accelerating time-to-market by providing information that will more easily facilitate the release process.
The results of a complex code analysis are presented in a format that’s easy for everyone in your organization to understand:
- Senior management and legal staff can isolate possible business issues such as license impact and code reuse
- Software engineers can drill-down into the report and demonstrate how their efficiency is increasing through the reuse of code components
- Business partners can compare their Code Label against company policies, so any potential conflicts can be assessed early in the development lifecycle
- During due diligence, the Code Label provides a high level view that illustrates code composition before a purchase is made
