Open Source Affiliations - Eclipse

The Eclipse Foundation is a non-profit corporation formed to advance the creation, evolution, promotion, and support of the Eclipse Platform and to cultivate both an open source community and an ecosystem of complementary products, capabilities, and services. Eclipse is an open platform for tool integration built by an open community of tool providers. Operating under an open source paradigm, with a common public license that provides royalty free source code and world wide redistribution rights, the eclipse platform provides tool developers with ultimate flexibility and control over their software technology. A full description of the Eclipse community and white papers documenting the design and use of the Eclipse Platform are available at http://www.eclipse.org.

Black Duck Software is a member of the Eclipse Foundation and supports its efforts. Black Duck has integrated the Protex suite with the popular, open EclipseTM platform via its open plug-in architecture. The Protex Eclipse plug-in lets developers associate an Eclipse development project with a Protex analysis project and perform automated code analysis and management tasks. Get more information.

“The Open Solutions Alliance was formed to drive collaborative effort towards reducing common barriers to adopting open solutions,” said Dominic Sartorio, board member and president of the OSA. “Concerns over code and licensing compliance are often raised by enterprise customers. Black Duck has built an industry-leading offering to address such concerns, and the OSA welcomes Black Duck as a member to help drive consistent approaches to resolving such concerns throughout the industry.”

Open Source Affiliation - OSSI

The Open Source Software Institute (OSSI) is a non-profit (501 c 6) organization whose mission is to promote the development and implementation of open source software solutions within U.S. federal, state and municipal government agencies and academic entities. Black Duck will serve as a technical contributor to the second open source software research and development programs between the U.S. Navy and the OSSI. This effort is part of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) between OSSI and the Commander, Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC). The three-year R&D program will explore the Navy's usage of open source software within the Naval Oceanographic Offices (NAVOCEANO) web services, scientific computing and enterprise architecture systems.
