Black Duck Appoints Mark Fusco to its Board of Directors

Technology Entrepreneur and Executive to Help Drive Next Stage of Growth for Open Source Software Management Market Leader

Burlington, Mass., March 18, 2014Black Duck Software, the trusted partner for open source software (OSS) adoption, management, and governance, today announced that Mark Fusco has joined its Board of Directors. Fusco most recently served as CEO of AspenTech (NASDAQ:AZPN), the world’s leading supplier of software that optimizes process manufacturing. As a board member, Fusco will provide counsel and insight to the Black Duck executive team as the company continues to lead the open source management industry.

Fusco’s nine-year tenure as CEO of AspenTech included double-digit growth for five consecutive years, greatly expanding the company’s reach in delivering industry-leading manufacturing and supply chain software services and solutions.

“During my years at AspenTech, we were a very satisfied Black Duck customer and I remain impressed by Black Duck’s continued success,” said Fusco. “I’m honored to join the Board at such an exciting time in the company’s growth and to work with the company’s outstanding CEO, Lou Shipley.”

Black Duck achieved record growth in 2013 driven by enterprise subscriptions, license renewals and new customer acquisition. This past December, the company appointed Shipley as its CEO. He is tasked with accelerating the company’s significant momentum and building upon its sizable base of over 1,300 customers in 24 countries.

“Mark’s expertise in helping new markets adopt innovative technology is perfectly aligned with Black Duck’s mission: to help enterprises harness the power of OSS technologies and methods for faster innovation, greater creativity and improved efficiency,” said Shipley. “I’m excited to work with Mark to help our customers manage the logistical complexities of incorporating OSS into their development processes.”

Added Black Duck Chairman of the Board, Tom Bogan: “We look forward to leveraging Mark’s tremendous experience in the software industry and working together to shape what will surely be a tremendous future for this vibrant company.”
