Black Duck Partners With Adnetwork in Asia to Continue Market Penetration

WALTHAM, Mass. and Taiwan—July 28, 2008— Black Duck Software, the leading global provider of products and services for accelerating software development through the managed use of open source software, today announced a new partnership with Adnetwork Ltd., a Taiwanese provider of network testing solutions. The partnership is the latest evidence of the strong growth of Black Duck’s channel in the Far East, as Adnetwork will offer Black Duck products to help its customers manage the use of software assets governed by open source licenses.

Companies around the world are incorporating open source into their enterprise development efforts to cut costs, accelerate time to market, and to benefit from the functionality provided in open source code. Black Duck products and solutions help software organizations realize these benefits while managing licensing, security and other risks and issues associated with unmanaged open source code.

“Open source software is benefitting numerous disciplines in companies across the world, as open source is included in applications on a variety of devices across the network,” said Alan Facey, executive vice president of sales at Black Duck Software. “Adnetwork can serve these companies better by offering Black Duck solutions.”

“Most Taiwanese companies do not understand how open source and other licensing issues can put their software intellectual property at risk,” said Vic Chen, technical manager of Adnetwork, Ltd. “Black Duck™ Protex can help software development teams catch these issues early, which can reduce software rework costs by 100X.”

With offices and channel distributors in more than 18 countries worldwide, Black Duck has been able to help developers in China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and many other countries, make productive use of open source and third-party components, while managing their licensing obligations and mitigating business risks. On July 30th, Black Duck will come to Taiwan for its first seminar, at the Grand Formosa Regent Taipei, where company executives will introduce Black Duck products and services to Taiwanese companies, and discuss how software development organizations can accelerate engineering producitivity by leveraging open source while mitigating the risks associated with using unapproved software.
