Black Duck's CEO Douglas Levin to Deliver Keynote at LinuxWorld Korea; Will Address the Business Challenges and Opportunities with Open Source Development in Global Markets

Black Duck also signs agreement with leading Korean reseller TSKG for distribution of its industry-leading protexIPTM software compliance management solutions in the Korean market

Waltham, Mass., June 5, 2006 -- Black Duck Software, the leading provider of software compliance management solutions, today announced that company CEO Douglas Levin will keynote the LinuxWorld Korea Conference & Expo, to be held June 5-7 in Seoul. Black Duck also announced a reseller agreement with TSKG, a leading technology reseller focused on the Korean market. The conference's invitation to Levin and the reseller agreement demonstrate strong demand for software license compliance solutions in the Korean technology sector, especially in the embedded systems market.

Levin will discuss the emerging "hybrid model" for software development, where programmers combine open source and proprietary code to accelerate software development and meet business needs. This model creates important licensing challenges that many companies are addressing. Black Duck provides software compliance management solutions that help companies navigate and understand the myriad of licenses that govern the code they develop and deploy.

"We are witnessing a sea change in how companies build and deploy software," said Levin. "It's a shift to component-based assembly of code, driven in large part by the availability of high-quality open source software. When this approach is managed properly, companies can dramatically improve the efficiency of their software development efforts, and get to market faster with better products. These powerful market forces have created a dramatic rise in demand for our products in Korea, as well as other Asian markets."

Levin's keynote is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 at 1 p.m., and it is just one of the highlights of Black Duck's participation at LinuxWorld Korea. On June 5 at 5:20 p.m., Black Duck Vice President of Engineering, Glenn Snyder, will discuss how embedded technology providers for the cell phone, automotive, and other markets are better understanding and managing the license requirements of the code they produce. Black Duck is exhibiting at the show as well in booth #B1.

Under the terms of the reseller agreement, TSKG will sell Black Duck's protexIP solutions and offer specialized product support and professional services to enterprise customers in the Korean market. Black Duck and TSKG will collaborate on joint sales and marketing activities. The agreement is further evidence of Black Duck's momentum in Asia. The company signed an agreement with Japanese reseller Ten Art-Ni in June of 2005, and counts several major Asian companies as customers.
