Productivity pressures and risk mitigation are driving Global 2000 organizations to leverage an increasingly diverse set of software development resources - from internal teams to open source and from outsourced to commercially built or customized applications. When viewed systemically, these sources of code are effectively a software development supply chain and must be managed accordingly. Managing and coordinating software creation is challenging, therefore, due to a variety of factors:
