Web Designer

Location: Burlington, MA

Black Duck is seeking a talented tech-savvy web designer who will be responsible for the effective design, layout and coding of the companies websites and associated digital assets. They are responsible for all of the technical and interface graphical aspects including: how our sites work, how they look and how they fit together. As well as provide maintenance and update of existing content.

We have a team atmosphere in which the Web Designer will work especially closely with the Graphic Designer but also partner with Communications, Social Media, Events Planning and Direct Marketing resources by providing technical web communications expertise to achieve our collective marketing objectives. In addition this individual will provide a tech savvy liaison to our technology vendors and internal Information Technology department in support of the marketing team members, technology and programs.

Qualifications and Skills

• 3 years as a professional web/interactive designer and development
• Understanding and experience with Social Marketing, Mobile technologies, SEO/SEM marketing techniques, and web content creation
• Strong knowledge of current graphic industry standards, design concepts, Web and other digital design technologies
• Experience in applying Web/interactive tools to communications campaigns with specific goals and objectives for targeted audiences
• Solid portfolio that demonstrates conceptual ability, creativity, versatility and technical focus
• Knowledge of and strong functional experience with Web usability and accessibility standards, HTML and CSS, and JavaScript.
• Ability to make designs cross-browser compatible using standards compliant markup
• Ability to translate designer mockups into working code
• Familiarity with the core principles of branding, information design, and theories of navigation and the ability to translate theory into exceptional reality.
• Experience working with or working knowledge of the following technologies/applications:
  • HTML 4
  • CSS 2.1 (Cross Browser CSS)
  • PHP
  • RSS/XML
  • JavaScript/ js framework
  • Adobe Creative Suite
    Web Content management systems, Drupal knowledge a plus.
