Senior Software Engineer (Ohloh)

Location: Burlington, MA

Ohloh.net is the largest free public directory of open source projects. With over 500,000 projects and millions of source files analyzed, Ohloh.net is the leading source of metrics around development of open-source projects. Black Duck is seeking a talented and eclectic Senior Software Engineer who is excited about working on Ohloh.net, using all open source tools. This individual will be instrumental in the crafting and development of our online developer community.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the design, development, integration, testing and deployment of Ohloh.net website and the backend.
• Participates in product/program collaboration, which includes product specification, system design, development and system integration.
• Conduct new technology research, concept specification and design of individual software components.

Requirements:

• Hands on experience object-oriented software design and development including experience in developing complex web-based systems.
• 4+ years of programming experience with any modern, object-oriented and/or dynamic language like Java, Python, Ruby.
• Experience with test-driven development.
• Experience with acceptance testing tools.
• Ability to collaborate within a fast paced development environment.
• SQL programming knowledge and experience with databases like PostgreSQL.
• Good understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Ability to move forward with limited guidance.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work experience.
